Flash fiction workshop with Marie Gethins at Belfast Book Festival

Flash fiction editor Marie Gethins will teach a two-hour workshop, Tell It Slant: Magpie Techniques To Deepen & Layer Flash Fiction, at Belfast Book Festival.

Flash fiction, one of the most adaptable and playful genres, particularly lends itself to experimentation. In this workshop, participants will read and discuss flash examples from Banshee and beyond that use math problems, lists, instruction manuals, definitions, shapes and more to transform familiar plotlines and layer in emotional depth.

Short bursts of writing time during the workshop will generate initial drafts, showing how to incorporate magpie techniques that can enrich your work in new and innovative ways.

Price: £30 / £25 (concession) – book here
