Call for book submissions: 15-30 November 2021

Banshee Press is open for submissions for book-length works of prose (fiction or nonfiction), by writers from or living in Ireland, between 15-30 November 2021. We are not open to unsolicited book-length projects outside these parameters at present.

Please note: this is a specific call for submissions with a limited window of time and should not be taken as guidelines for submitting material to our journal, or as indicative of the whole of our future list.

Guidelines below. We look forward to reading your work!

  • This submissions window is open from 15-30 November 2021.

  • Our intention with this submissions window is to consider material for our 2023 and 2024 lists. More specific dates will be discussed if/when offers are made to writers.

  • We are looking for: book-length works of prose (fiction or nonfiction) by writers who are from or living in Ireland, c. 60,000-100,000 words.

  • First-time writers and those who have published books previously are equally welcome. We welcome work from members of groups or communities typically under-represented within literature, whether or not the work addresses this; however, please do not feel obliged to disclose personal information.

  • There is no restriction on subject matter, and the work need not be explicitly ‘Irish’ in theme or tone. We would, however, strongly suggest looking at what we’ve published previously to get a sense of our tastes.

  • The book in its entirety should be unpublished; however, sections of it may have been published previously. (If so, please include that information in your list of writing credits – see below.)

  • Please submit the manuscript in full (double-spaced, non-quirky font in a reasonable size) along with a short bio and/or list of writing credits if applicable (1 page max) and a synopsis/outline of the book (1 page max). Please send these as Word document attachments (.doc or .docx).

  • Email submissions to subs dot bansheelit at gmail dot com with ‘Book Submission’ in the subject line.

  • We are happy to consider simultaneous submissions, but ask that you notify us as soon as your work is accepted elsewhere.

  • We aim to respond to all submissions within six months. Please note that we cannot provide feedback on unsuccessful submissions.
