Banshee Press will be open for submissions of book-length works of creative non-fiction, by writers from or living in Ireland, between 1-14 February 2021. We are not open to unsolicited book-length projects outside these parameters at present.

Creative non-fiction is a broad term but may include: memoir/personal history, an essay collection, a hybrid or experimental work. (It does not include things like factual ‘how to’ guides, e.g. cookbooks, or specialist academic texts, e.g. monographs based on a doctoral thesis.) If you feel like your work might fall into the creative non-fiction category, it probably does.

Please note: this is a specific call for submissions with a limited window of time and should not be taken as guidelines for submitting material to our journal, or as indicative of the whole of our future list.

Guidelines below. We look forward to reading your work!

  • This submissions window is open from 1-14 February 2021.

  • We are looking for: book-length works of creative non-fiction by writers who are from or living in Ireland.

  • ‘Book-length’ in this instance means something between 30,000 and 100,000 words.

  • The book in its entirety should be unpublished; however, sections of it may have been published previously. (Please include that information in your list of writing credits – see below.)

  • Please submit the manuscript in full (double-spaced, non-quirky font in a reasonable size) along with a one-page bio/list of writing credits and a one-page synopsis/outline of the book. Please send these as Word document attachments (.doc or .docx).

  • Email submissions to subs dot bansheelit at gmail dot com with ‘Book Submission’ in the subject line.

  • We are happy to consider simultaneous submissions, but ask that you notify us as soon as your work is accepted elsewhere.

  • We aim to respond to all submissions within six months. Please note that we cannot provide feedback on unsuccessful submissions.
