Join us for the online launch of Gold Light Shining by Bebe Ashley
Join us online on 29 October to celebrate the publication of Gold Light Shining, the stunning debut collection of poems from Bebe Ashley. Described by Doireann Ní Ghríofa as ‘lush and dizzying’, Bebe’s poetry spins gold from the detritus of the internet to explore celebrity, obsession, sexuality, coming of age, and that charismatic enigma, Harry Styles.
The book will be launched by acclaimed poet Stephen Sexton, who will join Bebe in conversation.
Bebe Ashley lives in Belfast. She is an AHRC-funded PhD candidate at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry. Her work can be found in Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, Poetry Ireland Review, Banshee, Modern Poetry in Translation, Poetry Jukebox and The Tangerine.
When procrastinating from her PhD, she takes British Sign Language and Braille classes and writes pop culture articles for United by Pop, specialising in Harry Styles.
Stephen Sexton’s first book, If All the World and Love Were Young, was the winner of the Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 2019 and the Shine/Strong Award for Best First Collection. He is the 2020 recipient of the E.M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was the winner of the National Poetry Competition in 2016 and the recipient of an Eric Gregory Award in 2018. He teaches at Queen’s University, Belfast.
