We’re proud and delighted that Louise Kennedy has been shortlisted for the Sunday Times Audible Short Story Award for ‘Sparing the Heather’, first published in Banshee issue #8. This is Louise’s second consecutive shortlisting in the award.

Judge Carys Davies said of ‘Sparing the Heather’:

‘A beautiful, understated story. The landscape, politics and characters are carefully and realistically woven with tremendous technical dexterity in this extremely accomplished piece of writing.’

Huge congratulations to Louise and also to Niamh Campbell, whose brilliant story ‘Love Many’, originally published in The Dublin Review, is also shortlisted.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 2 July.

Update: Congratulations to Niamh Campbell!
