Billy Ramsell’s Render is shortlisted for the 2026 T. S. Eliot Prize
We’re delighted and proud to announce that Billy Ramsell’s Render has been shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize 2026! Billy’s brilliant collection is in great company alongside books by Jorie Graham, Keith Jarrett, Imani Mason Jordan, Sylvia Legris, Shara McCallum, Kim Moore, Andrew Motion, Holly Pester and Jana Prikryl.
Judges Leontia Flynn, Ishion Hutchinson and Daisy Lafarge chose the shortlist from 174 poetry collections submitted by 65 British and Irish publishers. Leontia Flynn said: ‘Though very different in voice, style and preoccupation, these ten collections share a determination to meet the challenges faced in difficult times with closer attention to language. Linguistic disruption, personal reflection, humorous lyricism – or indeed all these things at once – can be found in this work. Each of these books reminds us why, when nothing else makes much sense, it’s to poetry we turn to reorient ourselves.’
Warmest congratulations to Billy, poetry editor extraordinaire Jessica Traynor, and to all the wonderful poets and publishers on the shortlist!
The winner will be announced on 18 January 2027, and tickets are now available for the T. S. Eliot Prize 2026 Shortlist Readings which will take place at the Southbank Centre, London on 17 January 2025.
