‘Peeling: Creme Egg’ by Colin Dardis
You must perform
the Dance of the Single Veil
before you can enjoy, consider
that foil container, rickety shell
between fingers and chocolate.
Find the fault line, that schism
of gateway and beckoning.
Hear the egg’s allure
whisper behind its cloak.
As you tease, softly tweeze
the edge of the world
away from its dark continent.
Maintain that tectonic shift
without quaking, free of slip,
blip or crippled landscape.
